In some countries Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) is known as Orthokeratology or Ortho-K. The idea behind the technique has been around since the 1940s. However early attempts at the technique had unpredictable results.
Recent advances in digital mapping technology, lens design and lens materials mean that we are now able to apply the theory and achieve extremely accurate results, safely.
A corneal topographer is used to create a digital map of the surface of your eye. Using this information your cutomised REVIZE retainer lenses are created. REVIZE retainer contact lenses are manufactured from a special highly oxygen permeable material and plasma coated to increase comfort. The material has been approved for overnight wear by the FDA.
The REVIZE retainer lenses are designed to reshape the cornea of your eyes, while you sleep. This reshaping of your cornea casues light to be focussed properly on your retina, eliminating short-sightedness.
How long does REVIZE take to give me good vision?
With most people 70% of the corneal reshaping is achieved after the first night wearing the REVIZE retainer contact lenses and 100% of reshaping is complete within three nights.
Is REVIZE Refractive Therapy permanent?
No its not. Orthokeratology or Ortho-K is not permanent. If you stop wearing your retainer contact lenses your cornea will gradually return to its original shape, so if your needs change you can choose to return to wearing your glasses or contact lenses.
Is REVIZE right for me?
REVIZE is ideal if you:
Currently REVIZE Corneal Refractive Therapy is suitable for people of any age with low to moderate degrees of myopia (short sightedness) and astigmatism - prescription between -0.50 and -5.00. The exciting news is that lens designs to correct long sightedness are in production and not far away.
