FAQ about REVIZE Corneal Refractive Therapy

How long does it take for REVIZE to improve my vision?

With most people 70% of the corneal reshaping is achieved during the first night wearing the REVIZE retainer contact lens and 100% of reshaping occurs in approx-limately three to five nights.  If necessary daily disposable contact lenses are supplied for use during this period.

Is REVIZE Corneal Refractive Therapy permanent?

No its not. If you stop wearing your retainer contact lens your cornea will gradually return to its original shape, so if your needs change you can simply return to wearing your glasses or contact lenses.

Am I suitable for REVIZE Corneal Refractive Therapy?

REVIZE Corneal Refractive Therapy is currently suitable for people of any age with low to moderate degrees of myopia (short-sightedness) and astigmatism.

Are the overnight lenses uncomfortable?

Generally there is a minimal awareness of the Revize retainer contact lenses which improves over the first week of wear.  They are so comfortable because they are sitting stably behind closed eyelids.

How many visits to the clinic can I expect when starting Revize refractive therapy?

Most people require 4-6 visits over the first 2 months of therapy.  After that we check you and your lenses twice a year.

What are the most common problems encountered with Revize refractive therapy?

If the Revize retainer contact lenses get dirty on the back surface they can become uncomfortable and you can lose some sharpness of vision.  Putting these lenses through an occasional "deep clean" (no charge for this procedure) solves this problem.

What happens if my eyes change?

Research has shown that Revize refractive therapy actually helps to stabilise vision and reduce the chances of further deterioration.  However if your eyes do happen to change we can adjust the shape of your Revize retainer contact lenses to compensate for this.

What happens if I lose a lens?

This is quite a rare occurrence because you are normally sleeping in them!  Replacement lenses cost around $250 and take about a week to make.
